JP and Jake here with your sports news update. We currently had a sports survey about our school sports and sports outside of school. we've asked four students and two staff member's here at the park. Our first question was what do you think of the sports here at 'The Park'. Dvarius Mcgowan and Ray Walton had similar answers, they both said they thought the sports here were 'straight'. That didnt give us too good of an idea of what the sports were really like here, the teachers had a little more in-depth response.


Stro, who is student teaching p.e. and spends a lot of time working with the girl's basketball program said, " I love park athletics, it can be one of the best environments because of how small the school is. Everyone gets a solid chance at making any sports team they want." But Stro also explained how it is dissapointing because most of the kids here choose not to play! Vliet, who is the head p.e. teacher at Wyoming Park said sports here are about being mentally tough, something most of our programs really focus on.

Our second question asked how many school athletic events have the interviewees attended. Nate Bultman told me he hasnt been to any this year because he is too busy with work and other priorities that get in the way. Jesse Love told us that he attended some of the volleyball games and went to most of the Freshman and JV football games doing a bit of scouting for our football team. This made me realize we do have pride and support within our programs.

We then asked if our interviewees played any sports. Dvarius, Ray, and Jesse all play varsity football! Nate Bultman said no, but he used to play basketball and run track here! Being that it is only the fall season and our interviewees have a lot more time to play more sports, we asked, " Do you plan on joining any sports teams for the remaining year, why or why not?."

Dvarius said he will be trying out the basketball team this winter and the baseball team this fall, if this works out for him, he will be a three sports athlete! Jesse Love will also take his talents to the basketball court this winter, where he plans to lead the Vikings to a conference championship for his senior year! Ray Walton is undecided on his winter sport, but it is a toss up between wrestling and basketball! Nate Bultman will not being playing any sports, he is focused on lifting and work!

After all those questions, we asked a random one, "Are you a Lions fan?" and every single person answered yes, GO LIONS!
